La Baule and its surrounding areas, on foot and by bike
La Baule is the perfect destination if you plan to leave your car in the garage during your holidays. Numerous bike paths have been built in recent decades so as to allow cyclists to move safely in the city. One of the most popular walks is of course that of the embankment, which you can go entirely by bike, from Pornichet to La Turballe. Flat and secured, it is perfect for young and older alike. The walk is wonderful when the sun sets over the bay. A real place of life for the Baulois, the embankment welcomes both bicycles, pedestrians, joggers or rollerblades. No more excuse for not doing sports!
All the streets of La Baule do not have bike paths, but motorists are used to cycling and are very careful. In this way, you can leave with confidence, including with your family. Another very pleasant walk is the one that connects La Baule with the magnificent fortified city of Guérande. The one way is made in slight uphill stretch - plan a bottle of water. Once there, do not hesitate to test the delicious specialties sold in Guérande, even the richest: the return is practically without touching the pedals! You can reach this trail through the center of La Baule or by Pornichet: you will then walk along wooded areas, with pretty villas, true haven of peace at the gates of the city.
You can also discover the salt marshes and the Brière by bike: many trails cross them, allowing you to admire the great diversity of landscapes, as well as the rich flora and fauna. If you prefer walking, La Brière has no less than 700 kilometers of marked trails!
La Baule and Pornichet have many bicycle rental shops. You can often rent for half a day, a day or a week. If you wish to explore the surrounding areas of La Baule, we recommend the electric bike, which allows you to travel long distances without exhausting you.
